The Annual Dump Hunger food/fund drive is a statewide event and has become one of the largest food drives of the year. This year the goal is to collect 300,000 pounds of food! That's enough to fill three CAT 730 dump trucks! This great partnership between Albertsons, Western States Cat, and Wells Fargo Bank will help us tremendously. With 300,000 pounds The Idaho Foodbank could distribute free emergency food into our partner network for up to 10-15 business days! That is equal to 250,000 meals.
Dump Hunger, a statewide food drive, began in January, 2009, when Western States Cat decided to make a difference after the holidays by holding a small company food drive. After holidays is a time when IFB's inventory is exhausted so Western States Cat hoped that this drive would help replenish the IFB network. No one knew that this would turn into one of the largest food drive events of the year!
In 2010 Western States joined Albertsons, Idaho Central Credit Union, Les Schwab Tires and Interior Systems in a partnership that allowed the Dump Hunger drive to expand to more locations and involve more community support. In doing so The 2010 Dump Hunger effort produced 61,746 lbs of food and monetary donations totaling $21,261.85.
This year’s goal is possible with your help! Take part in the virtual food drive or drop off at any of the locations below.
