Pocatello’s award-winning robotics club, Haywire, recently helped out at our Eastern Idaho warehouse. When asked why a robotics club would choose to volunteer at a food bank we received the following response.
“It was an easy decision for us. We take pride in caring about more than our image — our team cares about our members, our dedication to education, and our community. We feel privileged to be able to spend our time learning about engineering in a comfortable environment, and we don’t want to forget about the children our own age, even in our own schools, who must constantly worry about money and food for their entire families.
“In a society advanced enough to build robots, nobody should have to struggle for food. When we volunteer at the Foodbank, we know our help is important and appreciated, and our efforts are magnified by the Foodbank’s efficiency and organization.
“We are grateful to have such an effective and caring organization in our community. We would come for these reasons only, but we know we will also have a blast at the food bank — the task is different every time, and team members are learning how fun volunteer work can be.”
The Idaho Foodbank is also grateful to have organizations like Haywire. Thanks for the support!
