Scouting For More Food

As if the annual Scouting for Food drive isn’t enough, The Idaho Foodbank is also the happy recipient of food from numerous Eagle Scout food drive projects.  The latest scout to help fill our coffers is Deven George of Pocatello.

Deven is a 15-year old student at Century High School.  He created fliers for his drive, handed them out, collected the food a week later and then delivered his food to our east Idaho facility. Deven said that he “chose the food bank of Idaho because of the quantity of homeless and poor people in Idaho”.  Deven felt that a food drive would make a difference.  Yes, it will!

The River Features “IdaHo-Ho-Ho” Musicians in the “Listener Lounge”

Andrew Coba, who also played at Empty Bowls this year, performed his arrangement of "I Heard the Bells at Christmas Day." Andrew, by the way, is all of 15 years old.

Matt Hopper sang a solo version of his original song, "Merry Christmas (Get Back on Your Skis)."

Todd Sloan, Mark Doubleday and Steve Fulton (from left) joined forces to perform Todd's song "Winter Wheat" and Steve's new Christmas song, which will probably be on next year's CD, "Merry Wishes."

94.9 The River has done an absolutely stellar job of promoting the IdaHo-Ho-Ho with Moxie Java holiday CD that benefits The Idaho Foodbank. The DJs have promoted it and played songs from it throughout the past month.

It’s no accident that IdaHo-Ho-Ho is the best-selling CD at the Record Exchange this week.

On Tuesday, December 20, The River took it a step further when Tim Johnstone hosted several of the talented musicians who donated songs to the CD in the “Listener Lounge,” a live on-air concert program.

Big holiday thanks to all the generous musicians; to Steve Fulton, who produced the recording and performed on it; to everyone at Moxie Java for making it possible; and to Andy Petersen and everyone at Mitchell and Palmer who have done such a great marketing job. We’re already looking forward to hearing next year’s collection.
