Goal is to raise $30,000
The thirteenth annual Empty Bowls fundraiser for The Idaho Foodbank is set for Friday, Nov. 26. This year’s event will be very similar to the one the Treasure Valley has come to know and love – beautiful bowls to give or keep along with gourmet soup. But this year we are adding a few new twists:
• First is the location. This year, Empty Bowls will be located right on the Grove plaza near the Brick Oven Bistro.
• The hours this year will be shorter – 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. – so don’t wait too long to come by.
• Enjoy live music. Several of the singers and songwriters who will grace our upcoming holiday CD Idaho Ho Ho are scheduled serenade the crowd, and CDs will be available for purchase.
Bowls will start at $10 for handcrafted or pre-cast, hand-painted bowls made and donated by both accomplished and novice artists from across southern Idaho. The soup will come from such fabulous chefs as those at Locavore, Shaka Shak, Zee Catering, Boise Centre, Asiago’s, Westside Drive In, Emilio’s, Dry Creek Mercantile and Cottonwood Grille.
The goal this year is to raise $30,000. The goal is to have 2,000 bowls on hand, which means the Foodbank needs 500 more bowls by Nov. 15. Clay, ceramic, glass, wood and steel bowls are all welcome as long as they are food-safe.
Remember, every $10 bowl donated provides 30 meals to our neighbors across Idaho this winter.
