The first, and hopefully annual, Boise Crossfit challenge was held a few weeks ago with over 70 teams participating from five local gyms. Each team of two made a donation to The Idaho Foodbank to participate in the competition.
Competition involved participation in two events. The first required seven minutes of non-stop weight-lifting and the second required teams to run up hill with a backpack full of canned food. The food was, of course, donated to The Idaho Foodbank after the competition. Penalties for incorrect form or procedure required contestants to perform ten “burpees”. However, a ten dollar contribution to The Idaho Foodbank could earn you a “get of our burpee” free card.
All together, the challenge raised $2,688 and 381 pounds of food. Thanks to all the participants and especailly to organizer, Peggy Rollens, for this fun and creative way to raise funds and awareness for The Idaho Foodbank.
