It got a little warm at the Boise Blues Society’s twenty-first annual Sunday Blues picnic and food drive, but the beautiful shade trees at Julia Davis Park kept things reasonable cool. Up on stage, though, the music got pretty hot, and a large crowd enjoyed a tuneful afternoon of all shades of blues.
Not only did audience members enjoy six hours of locally based talent, they donated 1,089 pounds of food and $239 to The Idaho Foodbank. That is enough to provide 1,624 meals, about twice what was raised last year.
Our deep thanks to the bands: Amy Rose and Nathan Moody, Jake Leg, Juke Daddys, Blues Addicts and Lori B! and the Dudes Deluxe for a job well done.
And an especially big thank-you to Ken Harris and all the volunteers at the Boise Blues Society. They came through once again with the largest big food drive of the summer and a terrific way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
