February is American Heart Month, so now is a great time to focus on a heart-healthy diet. Foods rich in nutrients aid in maintaining heart health. Choosing whole grains, eating a variety of fruits and vegetables and reducing sodium is proven to positively impact heart health.

Hunger to Health Partnerships

The Idaho Foodbank has been able to partner with organizations around the state as part of our Hunger to Health Strategy. As part of the Idaho Foodbank’s Hunger to Health Strategy, last spring The Idaho Foodbank convened a Hunger to Health Advisory Committee that met quarterly over the last year. The Advisory Committee was comprised of leaders in community health and wellness throughout Idaho.

North Fork Mobile Pantry

Marsha Prestwich and her volunteers at the North Fork Mobile Pantry are passionate about feeding their neighbors along the north fork of the Salmon River. Nestled along the Lost Trail Pass on the border with Montana, this community has a strong sense of looking out for each other.

Service is Served in Lewiston

Thank you to everyone who came in to volunteer their time on Martin Luther King Day! Volunteers from the LCSC Volleyball Team, Kiwanis Club of LC Valley and Lewiston Rotary Club, in addition to other individuals in the community, helped The Idaho Foodbank pack food for our Backpack Program. We appreciate everyone who celebrated this National Day of Service by supporting The Idaho Foodbank and our partners.
