On Saturday, November 19th, 2016 the Pocatello branch of the Idaho Foodbank did their annual Thanksgiving box distribution. In Eastern Idaho, around 900 families were served a food box with the fixing of a traditional Thanksgiving dinner including: a turkey, potatoes, gravy, vegetables, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and pies/pastries.
Here are a few statements from the families that received Thanksgiving food:
“Just a blessing, really glad that there are people that are willing to give this much to this many people.”
“This will help extend food for my family, which is a big blessing”
“I didn’t know what I was going to do, thank you.”
“We can use some help, my husband has had strokes and can’t work. And I have to take care of him, so…we just need a little help”
“Thank you so much, my husband was laid off last month and we just didn’t have enough to buy a turkey. Oh and the rest of it is good too!”
“I lost my husband a few months ago, and the expenses are still coming in. I didn’t know what I was going to do. My pastor told me to come here, and now my kids will have Thanksgiving Dinner, it’s something I couldn’t do for them and they’ve lost so much.”
Thank you again to all volunteers and donors that made this event possible! Your giving has blessed our community this Thanksgiving.
