Making an Impact While Celebrating America 250

This year marks a significant milestone in American history as the nation celebrates its 250th birthday! Idaho continues to celebrate this momentous occasion with a series of special events that commemorate the principles and foundations that built this country.

Earlier this year, the America 250 in Idaho Service Challenge launched. This invites individuals, families, classrooms, businesses, faith groups, and communities to serve in ways big and small. The goal was to have Idahoans participate in 250,000 Acts of Service to mark the 250th birthday of the United States of America. Currently, Idahoans have surpassed the goal with over 318,000 acts of service! Visit idahokindness.com to get inspired by some of the volunteer work that has already been done. Those who want to participate in the challenge have until July 4th to add an act of kindness to the Idaho Kindness website.  At The Idaho Foodbank, volunteerism and service are vital to the work to help Idahoans who are food insecure. In fiscal year 2025, The Idaho Foodbank had people contribute over 71,000 volunteer hours across the state!

Albertsons Companies Foundation is celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary through their Nourishing the American Dream campaign. When a child has enough to eat, they don’t just have a full stomach. They have the chance to learn, grow, and shine. From July 1st to 7th, you can help nourish the American Dream by donating through this link: https://idahofoodbank.org/donate. Albertsons Companies Foundation will match every donation up to $5,000, doubling your impact. People will also have the opportunity to make a donation at the register at Albertsons stores.

If you are looking for events to celebrate July 4th, there will be an America250 Capitol Celebration in Boise. This includes a pancake breakfast, 4th of July parade, and free concert. The celebration will be held on the Idaho State Capitol steps and Cecil Andrus Park. More information about this event and other events around the state can be found on the America250 in Idaho site: https://america250.idaho.gov/capitol-celebration/
