Picnic in the Park 2019
School playgrounds, classrooms and hallways are emptying out, as the summer break begins for Idaho’s children. For more than 69,000 food-insecure kids in Idaho, this means the absence of free and reduced-price lunches and breakfast. For families who rely on this during the school year, summer can be a time of added burden and uncertainty. Luckily, community organizations are stepping up to keep these vulnerable children fed at lunchtime during the summer months.
The Idaho Foodbank manages the Picnic in the Park summer feeding program in the Treasure Valley area. Kids can enjoy a healthy meal and fun activities, Monday through Friday at park locations around the Boise Metro Area June 3 – August 9. Free to all Children ages 1-18. Adults may purchase a lunch for a small charge.
On Monday, June 3rd, The Idaho Foodbank will be joined by representatives from the City of Boise, Idaho State Department of Education, Corporation for National and Community Service AmeriCorps VISTA, Boise Parks and Recreation, Boise School District, and Boise Co-Op for a special launch event at Winstead Park in Boise to kick off the Picnic in the Park 2019.
Join us for the launch event, or visit a feeding location nearest you.
