DESCRIPTION:The Idaho Foodbank and North Canyon Medical Center are teaming up to bring Cooking Matters for Adults to Jerome in September. We are tackling food insecurity by providing basic nutrition and cooking skills to the communities we serve. \nThis 6-week course will be an interactive experience to help neighbors\, 16 years and older\, learn how to choose and prepare healthy foods on a budget with limited equipment. This fun and informative class will include food preparation\, label reading\, meal planning\, and nutrition tips. Each class will conclude with a nutritious meal that participants and instructors will sit down and enjoy together! All participants who attend at least 5 out of the 6 sessions will be eligible for the grand prize drawing! SUMMARY:Ada County Crop Hunger Walk
DESCRIPTION:Crop Hunger Walks are community-based walk events held in cities and towns across the United States to raise funds for hunger relief. This year’s Ada County Crop Hunger Walk will be held on Sunday\, October 12 at the Agriculture Pavilion in Julia Davis Park (the shelter between the Bandshell and the Zoo on the greenbelt/river side). Registration starts at 2:30 pm and the walk starts at 3:00 pm. The walk is a 3-mile loop\, beginning on the greenbelt\, then switching to streets downtown and then back to Julia Davis Park for the return. A one-mile loop will also be available. \nTwenty-five percent of the funds raised will be donated to The Idaho Foodbank\, whose mission is to nourish\, educate\, and advocate to support thriving\, food-secure communities across Idaho. The other seventy-five percent will be given to Church World Service\, a faith-based organization whose mission is to transform communities around the globe through just and sustainable responses to hunger\, poverty\, displacement\, and disaster.

DESCRIPTION:Every year\, CBS Channel 2 hosts the Great Idaho Food Drive. This year\, they’re partnering with KBOI Radio 670 AM\, Albertsons\, Les Schwab\, and Two Men and a Truck to collect food for The Idaho Foodbank! Food donations can be dropped off at collection locations from October 27th – November 13th. On the morning of November 14th\, a parade of Les Schwab trucks will come to The Idaho Foodbank warehouse in Meridian to unload the food collected throughout the drive. \n  \n\n\n\nFood collection barrels are located at the following places: \n\n– All Treasure Valley Les Schwab stores\n– Select Albertsons stores:\n– 1650 W.
