In the final two months of the year, we plan to distribute the food for 2.5 million meals. To do this as safely as possible, we’re proud to announce we’ve made some changes to how we collect, sort and distribute the fresh and dry food you donate.
To help us in the effort, we got the help of the American Institute of Baking (AIB), an organization that provides technology and training opportunities, as well as food safety services and inspections to a wide variety of food manufacturing and distributors — like us and other food banks in the Feeding America network.
The Idaho Foodbank’s branch in Boise was audited in October 2015 by AIB. We proudly achieved a high score, a measurement of our compliance to food safety regulations and our commitment to providing safe, high quality food products to the community.
Food safety is important to everyone. Providing nutritious meals and safe food products goes hand in hand in solving hunger. Everyone should have access to safe, wholesome food and through our commitment to high food safety standards and a strong food safety culture, we can achieve this.
