Local Students Lead Creative Fundraiser to Support Idaho Families

This month, The Idaho Foodbank is proud to recognize the leadership and generosity of Timberline High School students Nora Robinson and Royal Colley, whose National Honor Society service project turned into a meaningful fundraiser for neighbors facing food insecurity.

Instead of choosing a traditional service activity, Nora and Royal wanted to take on something with deeper impact—something that would directly support Idahoans in need. After researching local nonprofits, the pair chose The Idaho Foodbank, inspired both by our mission and by people in their own lives who have experienced food insecurity.

To bring their idea to life, Nora and Royal used the GiveButter fundraising platform, creating a custom campaign complete with a QR code and a text‑to‑donate option (“RUNFORFOOD” to 55533). They shared the link across social media, invited friends to participate, and watched as their parents passed the fundraiser along to their own networks. Donations came entirely through the app, allowing the students to focus on outreach and awareness while the community rallied behind them. Their efforts resulted in a meaningful contribution to help provide food for Idaho families—and demonstrated the power of young people using creativity and initiative to make a difference.

Nora and Royal are both student‑athletes with bright futures ahead. We’re grateful for their generosity, their leadership, and their commitment to helping build a hunger‑free Idaho. Youth‑led efforts like theirs remind us that compassion and community spirit are alive and well in the next generation.
