Micron Supports Food Donations to the Idaho Foodbank Th rough Volunteerism and Giving

15,000 Pounds of Food Donated for Idahoans in Need

Meridian, ID – The Micron Foundation provided a grant of $35,000 to The Idaho Foodbank to support the purchase of nutritious food to distribute to Idahoans facing food insecurity. More than 400 Micron team member volunteers then stepped up to organize and pack this food in 5,000 “snack bags” during a large-scale volunteer event at the company’s headquarters in Boise.

The “snack bags” contain nutritious, shelf-stable food that will be distributed through The Idaho Foodbank’s statewide partner network of over 400 food pantries. These bags are particularly beneficial for school pantries or emergency food needs.

The event was a part of the company’s largest volunteerism and giving event of the year, known as “Star Light,” which is held at their many locations around the world. In honor of the company’s 47th anniversary that was on October 5, 2025, the event is 47 days long and features opportunities for their employees to be involved with the foodbank and many nonprofits across communities local to Micron’s global sites.

In addition to annual food donations like hams and turkeys, Micron is a year-round supporter of The Idaho Foodbank’s volunteer program, with hundreds of employees donating their time and talents to hunger relief. The Micron Corporation and Foundation have jointly contributed more than $1.1 million since 2002 to The Foodbank through its philanthropy and team member donation matching program, including funds to support expanding The Foodbank’s capacity for providing fresh fruits and vegetables.

“Micron’s ongoing support of The Idaho Foodbank is an important part of our work to interrupt that cycle of food insecurity,” said Randy Ford, President and CEO of The Idaho Foodbank. “The partnership with Micron and their employees make a significant impact for our neighbors in need and supports the 25.2 million pounds of food we provided to our communities last fiscal year.”

“At Micron, we believe in the power of community and the difference we can make when we come together,” said April Arnzen, executive vice president, chief people officer and president of the Micron Foundation. “Through our partnership with The Idaho Foodbank and the dedication of our team members, we’re proud to help provide nutritious food to Idahoans facing food insecurity. I was excited to join our team members to pack snack bags as I fulfill my personal volunteer goals during our Micron Star Light season. We are honored to work alongside The Idaho Foodbank to make a meaningful impact across Idaho.”
