Coming Full Circle

The Idaho Foodbank partnered with the Idaho National Guard in April to build special food boxes destined for Idaho kids in need. Normally these youngsters would receive a special package of food every Friday as part of the Backpack Program. Due to school closures these kiddos were now cut off from this service which provides nutritious meals over the weekend to hungry students.

Thanks to the aid of the Idaho National Guard, this program was executed and supersized. Over 1300 boxes containing 10 breakfasts, 10 lunches, 10 dinners and 10 snacks were packaged by soldiers for immediate delivery to kids throughout the Southwest region of Idaho. And for one solider this experience was particularly meaningful.

Raising A Million Meals In March

In celebration of National Nutrition Month, The Idaho Foodbank has launched its 4th annual Million Meals in March campaign; a statewide effort to raise food, funds and hunger awareness in Idaho. The goal is to raise 1 million meals statewide. Local businesses throughout Idaho compete against each other through battles that include food drives, food bank volunteer shifts, innovative social media posts and creative fundraising pages.

Marsing Creates “Hub” Of Community Services

Last month, the Marsing School District opened an innovative community center called “The Hub”. Based in the former and newly refurbished middle school, The Hub is a resource center providing vital services to Marsing students, their families, and the surrounding population. In a community with high rates of poverty, homelessness and migrant households, the intention behind this multipurpose facility is to remove barriers and bring services to people in a location they can easily access.
