A Look Back at 2021: Community, Collaboration and Impact
As we enter a new year, thank you for your commitment to a hunger free and healthier Idaho. The Idaho Foodbank remains steadfast in our commitment to reach Idahoans who are struggling and provide them with the tools they need to thrive. We wanted to share just a few highlights from 2021.
- We celebrated the grand opening of our new facility in Meridian, marking the end of our A Fresh Approach capital campaign.
- To better understand the needs of communities experiencing hunger, The Idaho Foodbank employed community liaisons who are focused on building partnerships to formulate long-term solutions to hunger in rural Southwest communities, the Native American/Indigenous tribes residing on Idaho’s reservations and Hispanic/Latinx and refugee communities in South Central Idaho.
- To expand our impact in moving people from Hunger to Health, we hosted virtual Hunger to Health educational forums for our partner network, provided 10,000 dental kits in partnership with Delta Dental and distributed information from health care partners such as the Idaho Primary Care Association, Your Health Idaho and the Department of Health and Welfare.
- We are pleased to share that Idahoans are continuing to recover from the pandemic that brought record levels of people seeking food assistance. It is estimated that 1 in 9 Idahoans may be struggling with food security but with our ongoing efforts, we hope to see this number continue to improve.
