Back to School
Idaho is home to more than 40,000 kids with food insecurity – the lack of consistent access to enough food to support a healthy and active lifestyle (according to Feeding America’s Map the Meal Gap study). Knowing that nearly 9% of children in Idaho may not get enough to eat is a problem by itself, but its implications extend well beyond hunger pangs. Children need nutritious food so they can grow, develop, and focus on learning.
We will kick off our Back to School campaign in August to raise awareness of food insecurity among Idaho children and to raise funds for our school-based programs. Our Backpack and School Pantry programs are focused on getting food to children and their families. You can learn more about these programs and our Back to School campaign here.
