Building Healthy Communities Together in Eastern Idaho

Last month, The Idaho Foodbank hosted a Partner Conference in Pocatello for our food distribution partners in Eastern Idaho, centered around the theme “Building Healthy Communities Together.” More than 40 attendees gathered to share ideas, learn from one another, and explore new strategies to address food insecurity.

The conference featured panel discussions and presentations on topics such as The Idaho Foodbank’s nutrition education programs, food sourcing and food safety best practices, and leveraging social media for community engagement. A key focus of the conference was taking a comprehensive approach to community health through collaboration and shared learning. Panel discussions showcased innovative strategies and real-world examples of how this work is taking shape across the region. Another panel discussion brought together regional healthcare partners to discuss the most pressing health needs impacting our neighbors and the services available to support them. These panel discussions emphasized the power of cross-sector partnerships and offered practical ideas for how organizations can work together to improve community health and fight food insecurity in Idaho.

While implementing these ideas can be challenging, the conference created a space for honest conversation, thoughtful questions, and collaborative problem solving to help drive meaningful progress in our communities.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our Statewide Nutrition Education Sponsor, Lamb Weston, and to the dedicated partners who attended to build relationships and share resources. Events like this help us foster fresh perspectives and innovative solutions as we work collectively toward a healthier, hunger-free Idaho.
