Celebrating Community with Micron
We’re grateful to the Micron Foundation and the hundreds of Micron team members who recently came together to help Idahoans facing food insecurity.
The Micron Foundation provided a grant of $35,000 to The Idaho Foodbank to support the purchase of nutritious food to distribute to Idahoans facing food insecurity. More than 400 Micron team member volunteers then stepped up to organize and pack this food in 5,000 “snack bags” during a large-scale volunteer event at the company’s headquarters in Boise. They contain nutritious, shelf-stable food that will be distributed through The Idaho Foodbank’s statewide partner network of over 400 food pantries, supporting children, families, and neighbors in need.
This was a part of the company’s largest volunteerism and giving event of the year, known as “Star Light”. In honor of the company’s 47th anniversary on October 5th, the event is 47 days long and features opportunities for their employees to be involved with the Foodbank and many nonprofits across communities local to Micron’s global sites.
Micron is a year-round supporter of The Idaho Foodbank’s volunteer program, with hundreds of employees donating their time and talents to hunger relief. The Micron Corporation and Foundation have jointly contributed more than $1.1 million since 2002 to The Foodbank through its philanthropy and team member donation matching program, including funds to support expanding The Foodbank’s capacity for providing fresh fruits and vegetables.
Our President & CEO Randy Ford shared: “Micron’s ongoing support is an important part of our work to interrupt the cycle of food insecurity. Their partnership makes a significant impact for our neighbors in need.”
Thank you, Micron, for your commitment to community and for standing with us to help our neighbors who are food insecure. Together, we’re making a difference.
