Chobani, St. Lukes, and The Idaho Foodbank Welcome “Lola” in Twin Falls and Jerome County
“Lola” a new partner food hub, is a refrigerated unit specifically designed for a variety of fresh produce, dairy products, eggs and other perishable food. Fourteen local Idaho Foodbank participating partners and school pantries in the area will have weekly access to pick up items from Lola. At full capacity, Lola can provide food for up to 2,500 meals per week to neighbors struggling with food insecurity.
“It’s a proud moment of partnership, of leaning into the uncertainty of trying something new, and of doing it anyway,” says Rebecca Dittrich, VP of Impact at Chobani, who played a key role in getting Lola up and running.
Partners will schedule pickups in conjunction with the services they are currently providing to neighbors facing food insecurity. Lola simply augments the delivery of food already being made by The Idaho Foodbank. The local partners were chosen based on interest, capacity to serve a growing need, location and existing infrastructure. Many of these partners may be operating with limited food storage space which in turn limits the amount of nutritious perishable items they can have available. Now they will be able to visit the conveniently located Lola truck to pick up products for their community distributions. Lola is located in the Twin Falls St. Luke’s Parking Lot.
