Contributing Factors to Your Health
Did you know that 80% of our health is determined by factors outside of a healthcare facility?
When it comes to health, there are so many elements that contribute to our well-being. These conditions are also known as the social determinants of health (SDOH). Healthy People 2030, a framework for a healthier nation, defines SDOH, “as the conditions in the environments where people are born, live, learn, work, play, worship, and age that affect a wide range of health, functioning, and quality-of-life outcomes and risks.”
These areas include:
- Economic stability
- Education access and quality
- Health care access and quality
- Neighborhood and built environment
- Social and community context
