Eastern Idaho Volunteer Appreciation
The Pocatello branch of The Idaho Foodbank wants to recognize the Steadman Family and Corey Schenk during Volunteer Appreciation Month. The Steadman family has been volunteering with the Idaho Foodbank in some capacity for several years. They started as occasional volunteers and have become regular rock stars at our facility!
Their accomplishments include recruiting volunteers from the Highland 1st Ward, Farm Bureau, Girl Scouts, their neighbors, and now their family and friends for a monthly night of giving. During our Thanksgiving Distribution in 2022, they pulled together nearly eighty volunteers to help distribute Thanksgiving meals to those in need. The Steadman Family – Jared, Erin, Nathan, Emily, James, and Claire – have become an integral part of the food banking world in eastern Idaho. We’re so lucky to have them!
Corey Schenk began his adventures at The Idaho Foodbank back in 2020 when he arrived from the Department of Labor as part of a COVID relief support program. He found other employment about a year later, but continued to support our mission on his days off from work. Corey has put in 600+ hours of service volunteering almost every Wednesday and Thursday for the last two years!
Because of his dedication and ability to lead volunteer sessions, his support has made it possible for The Idaho Foodbank staff to run two to three volunteer groups at a time. Corey suffers from depression and anxiety and watching him work through those issues in this setting has been incredible and uplifting. He has made friends and gained confidence in working with groups of people he doesn’t know. We are so grateful for his ongoing support of our work at The Idaho Foodbank!
