Ada County/Boise Crop Hunger Walk

Ada County CROP Hunger Walk will be held on Sunday, October 13 at 3:00 pm, Julia Davis Park, Agriculture Pavilion (shelter between the Bandshell and the Zoo on green belt/river side). Registration starts at 2:30 pm.

The 3-mile loop begins on the greenbelt then switches to streets downtown and then back to Julia Davis Park for return. A one-mile loop will be available for those unable to walk the longer distance.

Looking to make a difference in our local community and in communities worldwide, the Ada County CROP Hunger Walk has set a goal of 150 Walkers from area churches and hopes to raise $40,000 to help end hunger and poverty through long-term sustainable approaches to significantly reduce or eliminate hunger.

Seventy-five percent of the funds are given to Church World Service. Church World Service is a faith-based organization transforming communities around the globe through just and sustainable responses to hunger, poverty, displacement and disaster.
A quarter of the funds raised will go to the Idaho Foodbank, whose mission is to help feed, educate and advocate for Idaho’s hungry through collaborative partnerships to develop efficient solutions that strengthen individuals, families and communities.

Please join us on our walk to end hunger!

MOO Bucks

People can donate “Moo Bucks” at Albertsons checkouts June 1-15. While it’s easy for people to donate canned and dry goods, fresh milk is much harder to donate because it’s perishable. Thus, even though food pantries report milk is one of the most requested items, it’s difficult for them to meet the demand. A donation to Moo Bucks help The Idaho Foodbank purchase and distribute dairy foods to clients and give them vouchers to redeem for milk.

The Idaho Foodbank receives most of its food donations during the holiday season. City of Trees knew that this was where they could help. To shed light on this issue, City of Trees Real Estate committed to creating an event the entire community could rally around, and thus, "Thanksgiving in June" was born. The goal is to fill the City of Trees Real Estate moving truck as many times as possible over a two-day event, but also throughout the entire month of June.

Scheduled Events:

• June 3rd or 4th - City of Trees Real Estate Team Volunteering at The Idaho Foodbank
• June 15th - Big Jud’s - $1 per burger donated
• June 13th - COTRE Happy Hour – collecting donations
• June 29th + 30th - Fred Meyer’s Grocery Store Booth -- (Linder and Glenwood)
