The fierce rivalry between the University of Idaho and Idaho State University takes a back seat to a more important mission during this year's Rivalry Week. The ISU Alumni Association and University of Idaho Alumni are teaming up to tackle hunger in Idaho by launching a week-long food drive in support of the Idaho Food Bank.

From Monday, November 13, to Saturday, November 18, Bengal and Vandal alumni, supporters and fans are encouraged to join forces in the fight against hunger. The initiative, aptly named "Vandals and Bengals: Tackling Hunger Together," aims to make a significant impact on the lives of Idahoans facing food insecurity.

The Idaho Food Bank (IFB) plays a crucial role in alleviating hunger across the state by distributing food to local partner agencies, schools and individuals in need. IFB’s tireless efforts have made a significant difference in the lives of countless Idaho residents, particularly during these challenging times.

Ada County CROP Hunger Walk to be held on October 15, 3:00 pm, Julia Davis Park, Agriculture Pavilion (shelter between the Bandshell and the Zoo on green belt/river side). The 3-mile loop begins on the greenbelt then switches to streets downtown and then back to Julia Davis Park for return. A one-mile loop will be available for those unable to walk the longer distance.

Looking to make a difference in our local community and in communities worldwide, the Ada County CROP Hunger Walk has set a goal of 150 Walkers from area churches and hopes to raise $30,000 to help end hunger and poverty through long-term sustainable approaches to significantly reduce or eliminate hunger.

Seventy-five percent of the funds is given to Church World Service. Church World Service is a faith-based organization transforming communities around the globe through just and sustainable responses to hunger, poverty, displacement and disaster.

A quarter of the funds raised will go to the Idaho Foodbank, whose mission is to help feed, educate and advocate for Idaho’s hungry through collaborative partnerships to develop efficient solutions that strengthen individuals, families and communities.
