Pack the Plane

Sponsored by:Alaska Airlines

“Pack the Plane” food drive campaign to help those in the communities that we live in. When you help pack the planes, you are helping your local food bank deliver programs to the front line of hunger.

While it may sound like we're physically packing cargo planes, that isn't actually the case -- Alaska Airlines virtually packing planes. The amount of cargo planes we "pack" is based on overall space and weight load capacity of a Boeing 737-400 freighter aircraft.

When Alaska first started the holiday food drive in 2009, the idea was to fill an entire virtual plane based on the weight of food and what a plane could hold space-wise. This effort grew over time to eventually include partnerships with local food banks as well as online donations. Thanks to your recent generosity, over the past six years Alaska Airlines raised nearly $765,000 and donated more than 47,000 pounds of canned goods to food banks across the country.

Last year, during our 13th annual "Pack the Plane" food drive, Alaska and Horizon employees packed the equivalent of more than 42 cargo planes. Working together, Alaska Airlines raised more than $214,000 in financial donations and collected 3,400 pounds of canned goods for local food banks, providing almost one million meals to those facing food insecurities in the midst of a global pandemic.

For The Idaho Foodbank, Alaska Airlines has a goal to raise $5,000 and gather food.

Starting in 2005, the Albertsons Turkey Bucks campaign has raised funds for The Idaho Foodbank to provide food for holiday meals to Idahoans in need. This year, customers will be given the opportunity to donate to The Idaho Foodbank when they pay for their purchases at multiple Albertsons stores raising money to provide food for meals this holiday season.

It's that turkey time of the year! Come join Barrie's Ski & Sports for their 15th annual Cranksgiving event. To meet the increased need for assistance in Bannock county, we are asking for your support to help us gather turkeys to be distributed at the Bannock County Thanksgiving food box distribution. Turkeys and monetary donations can be dropped off at Barrie's Ski & Sports, the Idaho Foodbank, and any Pocatello ICCU branch. All donations will need to be made by 10:00am November 19th.

Want to continue the fun? Grab your bike and meet us at 10:00am at Barrie's Ski and Sports on Saturday, November 19th as we peddle the remaining precious proteins to the food bank warehouse.

For more information you can contact the Pocatello branch at 208-233-8811.

Give the Cops a Bird

Sponsored by:Pocatello Police Dept

The Pocatello Police Department has launched its 4th annual “Give the Cops a Bird” turkey drive. All proceeds go directly to the local Idaho Foodbank to help feed the hungry in our community. Frozen turkeys and monetary donations will be accepted through Friday, November 18th at the Pocatello Police Department (lobby). Since turkeys may be hard to come by this year, any frozen holiday meat will also be accepted.

If you’re interested in making a monetary donation, make checks payable to the “Pocatello FOP Union.” PPD also has a Venmo account available for donations: @Portneuf-Valley-Lodge. Financial donations can also be dropped off at the Pocatello Police Department.

Don’t miss your chance to “Give the Cops a Bird” and help us help the community.

Location

911 N. 7th Ave.
Pocatello, ID 83201

Copy over the same event description we used last year except that for a $5000 donation (which is what they are giving us) they will provide the food for 20,000 meals instead of 25,000 which is what I think it was last year. Albertsons is still a partner in this event so hopefully whatever you find from previous years will mention that. Please let me know if you can't find what you need.
