Scouting for Food – Southwest Idaho

Scouting for Food, hosted by Scouting America, is one of Idaho’s largest annual food drives. Volunteers across the Treasure, Magic, and Wood River Valley will pick up food from designated neighborhoods. If you find a door hanger at your house on November 1st, you can leave a donation outside your front door for the Scouts to pick up on November 8th.  If you don’t receive a door hanger, you can still donate at one of the drop-off sites listed below.

This event, sponsored by Farm Bureau Insurance, presents beautiful bowls handmade and painted by the Idaho State University Arts department as well as local artists in the community. These Bowls are being sold for $15.00 a piece. Special thanks to Farm Bureau Insurance and Albertsons, each bowl purchased will come with a special wooden spoon and Bear Creek Country Kitchens soup. In addition to bowl purchases, other local art work is being auctioned as well. All proceeds benefiting The Idaho Foodbank.

Sportsmen Against Hunger are joining forces again this year at CAL Ranch Store in Chubbuck at the Pine Ridge Mall to help raise funds to support the Idaho Foodbank. It is sponsored by groups such as: Ducks Unlimited, the National Turkey Foundation, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and the POW/MIA. It will be held the last weekend in January on the 30th and 31st from 10:00 to 4:00pm. And again on Saturday, February 6th from 10:00 to 4:00pm. National Ice Cream for Breakfast Day is Saturday, February 6th! This year, we will be offering multiple ways for you and your family to celebrate, with all proceeds going to The Idaho Foodbank.
We will have ice cream from The STIL (duh!), donut holes generously provided by Guru Donuts, and coffee provided by Dawson Taylor! If you'd like to join us in-person for the event, both of our locations will be open from 9am-12pm on the day of the 6th for our "normal" ice cream for breakfast celebration. No advanced order is necessary if you plan to join us in-person, but seating will be limited.

Holiday Heroes is a one-day food drive at Rosauers in Lewiston on Saturday, December 19th, 2020. Shoppers at Lewiston Rosauers can add to their purchase a donation of one or more bags of food for local families in need this Holiday Season.
The donation will provide sides and pantry staples and are available for purchase for a $20 donation plus tax. Each bag that is purchased will be distributed to those in need, in conjunction with the Idaho Food Bank on Monday, December 21st at the Nez Perce County Fairgrounds in Lewiston at 10 AM or until the food is gone.
