Scouting for Food – Southwest Idaho

Scouting for Food, hosted by Scouting America, is one of Idaho’s largest annual food drives. Volunteers across the Treasure, Magic, and Wood River Valley will pick up food from designated neighborhoods. If you find a door hanger at your house on November 1st, you can leave a donation outside your front door for the Scouts to pick up on November 8th.  If you don’t receive a door hanger, you can still donate at one of the drop-off sites listed below.

The Idaho Foodbank is partnering up with Big Al’s for the 3rd Annual Summer Empty Bowls on National Ice Cream Day! This community event held at Big Al’s (1900 N. Eagle Road, Meridian) helps raise necessary funds for the 179,000 families and children The Foodbank serves monthly. Your sponsorship will provide necessary meals to the 1 in 8 Idahoans who struggle with hunger. Our goal is to raise enough for 12,000 meals at this event to help feed Idaho’s hungry.

This event is supporting our 3rd Annual Summer Empty Bowls by providing the bowls for the event!

MOO Bucks

Sponsored by:Albertsons

People can donate “Moo Bucks” at Albertsons checkouts June 1-15. While it’s easy for people to donate canned and dry goods, fresh milk is much harder to donate because it’s perishable. Thus, even though food pantries report milk is one of the most requested items, it’s difficult for them to meet the demand. A donation to Moo Bucks help The Idaho Foodbank purchase and distribute dairy foods to clients and give them vouchers to redeem for milk.

Thanksgiving in June

Sponsored by:City of Trees Real Estate

The Idaho Foodbank receives most of its food donations during the holiday season. City of Trees knew that this was where they could help. To shed light on this issue, City of Trees Real Estate committed to creating an event the entire community could rally around, and thus, "Thanksgiving in June" was born. The goal is to fill the City of Trees Real Estate moving truck as many times as possible over a two-day event, but also throughout the entire month of June.

Scheduled Events:

• June 3rd or 4th - City of Trees Real Estate Team Volunteering at The Idaho Foodbank
• June 15th - Big Jud’s - $1 per burger donated
• June 13th - COTRE Happy Hour – collecting donations
• June 29th + 30th - Fred Meyer’s Grocery Store Booth -- (Linder and Glenwood)

A link to make a cash donation to Thankgiving in June is listed below.
