Tackling Hunger

Join Idaho State University and University of Idaho in supporting The Idaho Foodbank’s vision of a Hunger-Free Idaho! Each year, the football teams go head to head on the field in a friendly school rivalry game the Saturday before Thanksgiving. But, off the field, there’s another friendly rivalry going on – which school can bring in more donations for The Idaho Foodbank!
This year, starting Monday, November 17th and going through gameday on Saturday, November 22nd, help prove once and for all which is the better institution by making a donation on their behalf! Whether you’re a student, faculty, alumni, or a community member, any and all donations will help provide food to people in need across the state. Plus, there will be some fun rivalry side bets (announcement coming soon!) that depend on which school wins!
Throughout the week, there will be food drop-off locations around both campuses for any physical donation items. And for monetary donations, just pick your school on this page before making a donation!

Ada County Crop Hunger Walk
Sponsored by:CROP Hunger Walk

On Sunday, October 18, you are invited to walk with us to end hunger, one step at a time. This year we will be “walking together apart”. Even though walkers may be walking in their own neighborhoods or joining their church’s team for a “micro walk”, we will be walking together to end hunger.
The suggested distance for the walk is 3.4 miles because that is the distance many people in our world have to walk to access water.
We will be walking to raise funds to support the global mission of Church World Service, a faith-based organization transforming communities around the globe through just and sustainable responses to hunger, poverty, displacement and disaster.
We will be walking to share 25% of the funds generated from the event to be designated to the Idaho Foodbank that assists food programs here in Idaho.
If ever there was a need for us to WALK TO END HUNGER ONE STEP AT A TIME, it is now, October 18, 2020. Please join us! Together, we can raise funds, walk together apart and help end hunger in our community and around the world!

Feed the Need
Sponsored by:Idaho Foodbank North Central Branch
idahofoodbank.org

The holiday season will be upon us before we know it. For many of us, it’s a season of joy, thankfulness and giving. But for our neighbors, many of them still out of work, who suffer from food insecurity, it can be a season of stress and worry. There are several contributing factors, from school-age kids being out on break to friends and relatives visiting over the holidays. Regardless of the reasons, the demand for food assistance over the holidays increases significantly. Hence, the Feed the Need campaign in October. Please join The Idaho Foodbank in this food and fund drive benefiting our partner agencies in the five-county region of North Central Idaho, consisting of Clearwater, Idaho, Latah, Lewis and Nez Perce counties.
Did you know, due to the power of our network, The Idaho Foodbank can provide five meals for each $1.00 donated? Every single donation has a big impact as The Idaho Foodbank works towards our vision of a hunger-free Idaho. Point-of-sale donation requests are a fantastic way to support the Feed the Need campaign. It is important to note that food collected in communities outside Lewiston will be donated to our partner agencies in that area. For example, food collected in Orofino will go to our partner agency in Orofino. Funds collected will go to The Idaho Foodbank to support the programs we administer throughout North Central Idaho. Those include Backpack, Cooking Matters, Mobile Pantry, School Pantry and Senior Nutrition.
We sincerely hope you will partner with The Idaho Foodbank in October to Feed the Need this holiday season!
Holiday Food Fight
Sponsored by:Pocatello Branch of the Idaho Foodbank

Since we are in need of some very specific food items for our Bannock County Thanksgiving food box distribution, we have tried to come up with a creative way to help gather these foods. We are reaching out to local businesses to see if they would be interested in participating in a “Holiday Food Fight”. This event is designed to collect all of the dry goods needed to fill 1000 Thanksgiving food boxes that will be distributed to Bannock County residence in need. We will be working with multiple businesses throughout the community asking them to participate in our challenge by contributing 1000 cans of a specifically chosen food item. This will be a contest where each business will gain points for each item collected and bonus points for additional collected funds and turkeys. There will also be bonus points for whoever completes their challenge first. The winning business will be provided with lunch sponsored by the Pizza Pie Café as well as additional fun snacks delivered to your office, and of course, a trophy.
