Harvest Report: End of Season
Harvest season has ended at the LDS Orchard and what an interesting year it’s been. The crops withstood many challenges from Mother Nature including winter kill and fire blight. Outside of Idaho, the country faced a few
natural disasters and many truckloads of our food went to help with humanitarian efforts. Despite this, we still received hundreds of thousands of pounds of great fruit and we were able to share several loads with neighboring foodbanks.
The final phase of this year’s fruit crop is canning pears at the Garden City Cannery. We will can 2 truckloads of pears for early December pickup.
