Harvesting Generosity

Harvest season is when Idaho’s fields overflow with color, flavor, and possibility. At The Idaho Foodbank, it’s also a season of gratitude — a reminder that fresh, local produce is more than food – it’s a pathway to health, dignity, and hope. We are fortunate to live in a state with an incredibly generous agricultural community. As harvest season begins and we enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables, we want to take a moment to acknowledge our generous agricultural donors across the state.

In fiscal year 2025, fruits and vegetables made up 40% of the food we provided to neighbors in need across the state. This abundance is possible because of the generosity of Idaho’s food growers, producers, and distributors, who donate to The Idaho Foodbank to help every Idahoan, regardless of circumstance, enjoy nutritious meals. We are grateful for agriculture supporters, such as the Berry Ranch, who donate to The Idaho Foodbank.

Our collaborative partnerships ensure that food is not wasted. We work with Global Gardens to distribute any unsold produce from their farmers markets to Idahoans in need, ensuring it continues to nourish and uplift our neighbors who are facing hardships.

Every potato, pear, bunch of leafy greens, and carrot donated by the agricultural community tells a story of community care. Together, we’re proving that when Idaho’s agricultural bounty is shared, it nourishes more than bodies — it strengthens the very fabric of our state.
