Hope for the Holidays

As the holiday season gets in full swing, many of us think about bringing out our decorations, buying gifts, and planning for our visits with family and close friends. For many of our neighbors, the joy of preparing for the holidays can be dampened by their struggles to make ends meet.

Food is a key part of holiday celebrations – whether you are continuing the annual family tradition of your great aunt’s stuffing recipe or tamales at Christmas or if you are starting new traditions with a different way of preparing potatoes or cranberry sauce. We want to ensure that all Idahoans, no matter what challenges they are currently facing, are able to have a joyful holiday meal and other nourishing food throughout the holiday season.

November marks the start of our “Hope for the Holidays” campaign, which runs through November and December. Our goal throughout the duration of the campaign is to provide food for approximately 3.8 million meals. We want everyone, regardless of their current financial situation, to have nutritious meals on the table.

There are events happening all over Idaho during our Hope for the Holidays campaign to help ensure all our neighbors have the food they need. This also includes activities that make some of your routine tasks, such as buying groceries or shopping for holiday gifts, an opportunity to support The Idaho Foodbank and your community. Visit idahofoodbank.org/events to find out ways you can get involved and give back this holiday season.
