Idaho Hunger Awareness Month

The Idaho Foodbank was excited to receive Governor Little’s Proclamation recognizing Idaho Hunger Awareness Month in October and The Idaho Foodbank’s 40th Anniversary.

The Proclamation acknowledges that since opening in 1984, The Idaho Foodbank serves every county in the state with more than 400 statewide partners.

The Governor’s Proclamation also notes that, “An initiative such as Hunger Awareness Month not only sends a message of support to those in need but raises awareness of this critical issue among the general population of Idaho.” He adds, “Children experiencing food insecurity are at a higher risk for falling behind in school and exhibiting lower test scores, behavior issues, and health challenges.”

The Proclamation also notes that we are encouraged to “work together through public and private partnerships to strengthen Idaho food systems and provide food security for all Idahoans.” The Idaho Foodbank appreciates the strong support of our mission from public and private organizations since the inception of our organization. We are also grateful for the Governor’s support of the Summer EBT (SUN Bucks) program for kids in his fiscal year 2025 budget request.

Together, we can make our vision of a hunger-free Idaho a reality.
