The Idaho Foodbank Teams up With Micron to Bring Holiday Hope to Idahoans in Need
Meridian, ID – The Idaho Foodbank and Micron Technology gave food and hope to their fellow Idahoans just in time for the holidays.
As part of this annual tradition, Micron provides a turkey or ham in celebration of Thanksgiving to each member of the Micron team, who can in turn choose to donate them to The Idaho Foodbank. This season, Micron employees gave 1135 turkeys and 434 hams, delivering much needed food to more than a thousand households.
The technology leader remains steadfast in its commitment to helping the communities in which it operates. Since 2011, Micron has delivered more than 239,100 pounds of food, enough to provide the equivalent of over 199,000 meals to Idaho residents.
In addition to food donations, Micron is a year-round supporter of The Idaho Foodbank’s volunteer program, with hundreds of employees donating their time and talents to hunger relief. The Micron Foundation has also contributed more than $900,000 to The Foodbank through its philanthropy and team member donation matching program, including funds to support expanding The Foodbank’s capacity for providing fresh fruits and vegetables.
In the spirit of continued giving, Micron is also celebrating November as Giving Month, leading up to Giving Tuesday. This month-long initiative includes various information sessions, volunteer activities, and giving campaigns set up to encourage employees to engage in acts of generosity and volunteerism throughout the month.
“We appreciate the generous contribution of Micron employees to make this donation happen,” said Randy Ford, President and CEO of The Idaho Foodbank. “Micron’s ongoing support of The Idaho Foodbank has made a difference and this donation will help more of our neighbors enjoy a holiday meal.”
Micron Technology, an industry leader in innovative memory and storage solutions, and its Foundation have consistently demonstrated its commitment to supporting communities, particularly where its team members live and work. Since its founding in 1999, the Micron Foundation has contributed over $180 million to various philanthropic efforts. These contributions include grants, programs, and volunteer initiatives that enable equitable opportunities for underrepresented populations.
