The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP)

The USDA purchases a wide selection of products for TEFAP distribution. While the exact products available from year to year may change, the emphasis is always on food choices that promote variety and proper nutrition.

Partnering with the USDA

The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) helps supplement the diets of Idahoans who are low-income, including the elderly, by providing them with emergency food and nutrition assistance at no cost. A national hunger-relief program, the food is purchased by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and distributed by The Idaho Foodbank through a network of community partners in eastern Idaho.

TEFAP distributions may include…

  • canned & dried fruits
  • canned vegetables
  • fruit juice
  • dried egg mix
  • meat/poultry/fish
  • dried beans
  • pasta products
  • milk
  • rice/grits/cereal
  • soups

The Idaho Foodbank distributes TEFAP in eastern Idaho only. For information on TEFAP in other areas of Idaho visit: Idaho Community Action Network
