Staff Spotlight – Amanda Peterson, Administrative Assistant, Pocatello

The thing I enjoy most about my job is…
helping our neighbors! I get to offer a smile and some hope to people in perhaps their toughest times. I see them, I hear them, I acknowledge what they are going through and sometimes, just for today, that is enough for them.
What game show do you think you have the best chance of winning?
Fear Factor (gas station sushi, anyone??)
What is your WHY, why do you work at The Idaho Foodbank?
After a lifetime of management roles in the corporate world, I knew I wasn’t doing what I was supposed to be doing. I quit my job and took 4 years off to ask myself that very question. What is my why, my purpose? As I readied myself to return to the work force, I came across the job posting for the admin role at the Idaho Foodbank (Pocatello) and knew it was exactly where I was supposed to be! When we help others, we end up helping ourselves the most.
What song is guaranteed to make you sing?
Sweet Caroline! Or any song, really. I’m not picky and I love to sing!
Before working at The Idaho Foodbank, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
In my early twenties, I worked at a mechanic shop for a couple years while going to school!
People would be surprised if they knew:
My favorite holiday is April Fools Day. What better way to remind the world that joy, laughter, and a little mischief are medicine?
