Staff Spotlight: Corinne Hughes – Community Engagement Specialist

Before working at The Idaho Foodbank, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

I worked on the US Census in 2020 as an enumerator!
I got to travel all over southwestern Idaho and meet lots of interesting people.

What is your WHY – why do you work at The Idaho Foodbank?

I wanted a job where I could use my skills to help people and make a difference in my community. I love working at the Foodbank because I get to do just that!

What is your greatest personal achievement?

Learning to speak Spanish. It wasn’t easy, but now that I’m fluent, I’m so glad that I never gave up!

What is your biggest pet peeve?

Itchy tags on soft clothing. With all the technology we’ve got, surely we could make a silky tag to match the soft clothing!

What places have you lived in, that you would like to go back to some day?

I lived in Peru for a year with my husband and his family. I’d love to retire there someday.

What was the most ridiculous impulse purchase you’ve ever made?

I bought a khaki-colored men’s trench coat from a thrift store when I was 15 because I thought it would make me seem cooler. It was at least three sizes too big, and it did not make me seem cooler.
