Staff Spotlight – Sheena Honey – Development Administrative Assistant

Before working at The Idaho Foodbank, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

As a teen/young adult I would do promotions, and I was able to do one when Playstation Portables first were a thing to promote it by walking through the line for the Warped Tour letting people try it out.  I then got to go to the music festival for free!

What is your WHY, why do you work at The Idaho Foodbank?

Growing up we depended on community resources including food boxes to get by.  I love now being able to help others by working for a cause-driven organization that supports our community.

What lesson are you most grateful for learning?

My mother has taught me about being giving.  She has always been so selfless even when she didn’t have much to give herself.  It has always been a core value of mine to help others in the ways I can.

What has been the most impactful part of working at The Idaho Foodbank during your tenure?

Helping unload and sort the 38,954 lbs of food that came in from the Great Idaho Food Drive, amazing seeing what the community came together to do to support our neighbors.  Also helping at one of the monthly food distribution events in Nampa.  Really means a lot to see the food going out to the long lines of families in need.

What is your greatest personal achievement?

Giving birth to not only my own two babies but being able to bring 3 other babies into the world to great families as a gestational carrier.
