Summer Meals for Children

Summer is here! School is out and the weather is warming up. While many people are looking forward to fun vacations, there are many who will struggle to find food this summer, particularly children. Unfortunately, there are over 75,000 Idaho children who are food insecure. These children typically rely on free or reduced-price lunches during the school year. During the summer, when school is out, they may not have the same kind of reliable access to healthy and nutritious food.

To ensure that children who rely on free or reduced-price meals at school are able to get the nutrition they need, the USDA is working with states to continue providing meals to students.
