USDA Supplemental TEFAP Order Cancellation

Meridian, ID – The Idaho Foodbank was recently notified by Idaho Department of Health & Welfare that a previous order of three bonus TEFAP food products made available to The Idaho Foodbank has been cancelled by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). TEFAP is The Emergency Food Assistance Program from USDA.

This bonus/supplemental product was scheduled to arrive at The Idaho Foodbank this summer. This cancelled order contained protein that we know is in demand and aligns with our goal of providing nutritious food to our neighbors. This was a bonus order of TEFAP food, so even with this cancelled order, we still have TEFAP food available to our specific partners who distribute TEFAP.

11% of The Idaho Foodbank’s food is from government programs and 5% of The Idaho Foodbank’s revenue is government funding.

The vast majority of the food distributed by The Idaho Foodbank is donated or purchased with donated funds, so we continue to serve anyone with an expressed need for food.

In Idaho, TEFAP is managed through the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare. The Idaho Foodbank administers TEFAP in some regions of the state. Nationwide, USDA cancelled $500 million in bonus/supplemental TEFAP orders.
