When Life Gives You Lemons
Sometimes solving hunger can seem like an insurmountable problem. What can one person really do?
Callia, a Boise eight-year-old, shows that one person, even a child, can make a huge difference.
When she learned about hunger and the problems facing her community, she told her mother she wanted to do something about it. Her idea was to sell lemonade to friends, neighbors and family and donate some of what she made to The Idaho Foodbank. Her neighbors came through in a big way, buying up her lemonade and donating food to help her in her mission. What ended up happening was something worth celebrating. Callia dropped off an envelope filled with $55 and brought along a box filled with 46 pounds of food! She got a tour of the Foodbank and learned about how far her donation can go.
Callia is a perfect example of what can be accomplished when we work together. Thank you for helping solve hunger!
