6-Week Cooking Matters Course
The Idaho Foodbank and Eat Smart Idaho are teaming up to bring Cooking Matters for Families to the Mini-Cassia. This 6-week course will be an interactive experience to help adults learn how to choose and prepare healthy foods on a budget with limited equipment. This fun and informative class will include hands-on food preparation, label reading, meal planning, and nutrition tips. Our goal is to help families make the most of their food dollars. Each class will conclude with a nutritious meal that participants and instructors will sit down to eat together. All participants who attend 5 out of the 6 classes will be eligible for a grand prize drawing. Children under the age of 16 must have adult supervision and all members of the household are encouraged to attend together.

The Idaho Foodbank is partnering up with Big Al’s for the 2nd Annual Summer Empty Bowls, Sunday
This community event held at The Village helps raise necessary funds for the 179,000 families and children The Idaho Foodbank serves monthly. Your $10 purchase of a handcrafted bowl will provide 50 meals to the 1 in 8 Idahoans who struggle with hunger. Our goal is to raise enough for 12,000 meals in July. Friday, July 13th is Beef Night at the Boise Hawks game. Idaho Foodbank will be holding a raffle of Mountain Home Country Music Festival 3-day wristbands (6 of them) plus a cooler. Funds will support the Beef Counts program which provides nutritious protein to Idaho families in need.

National French Fry Day - Simplot

Simplot Foods is Hosting their 2nd Annual French Fry Day July 13 from 4PM to 7PM. This event is free and will be held at Celebration Circle at the JUMP (Jack's Urban Meeting Place) on 9th Street and Front St. in downtown Boise next to Simplot headquarters. Simplot's famous fryer will be pumping out up to 2,000 lbs. of fries an hour!
Attendees are encouraged to bring donations to The Idaho Foodbank – anyone who donates $15 or more will receive a commemorative "FryIdaho" t-shirt.
This event is a part of the Twilight Trifecta, which is a kickoff for the 2018 Twilight Criterium. The Chrono Kristin Armstrong Awards Ceremony will be taking place at JUMP at 6 PM.

City of Trees Real Estate is celebrating 5th annual Thanksgiving in June. During the summer months, thousands of children are not getting school-provided breakfast or lunch, and overall giving is at a seasonal low for non-perishable food items. The Idaho Foodbank receives most of its food donations during the holiday season.
To shed light on this issue, the entire month of June, we have an event once a week to help collect non-perishable food items and donations for The Idaho Foodbank. To wrap up our month of giving, on June 23rd & June 24th, City of Trees Real Estate will be located at two Fred Meyer locations (Chinden & Linder and Chinden & Glenwood) collecting non-perishable food and donations for The Idaho Foodbank.
