Scouting for Food – Southwest Idaho

Scouting for Food, hosted by Scouting America, is one of Idaho’s largest annual food drives. Volunteers across the Treasure, Magic, and Wood River Valley will pick up food from designated neighborhoods. If you find a door hanger at your house on November 1st, you can leave a donation outside your front door for the Scouts to pick up on November 8th.  If you don’t receive a door hanger, you can still donate at one of the drop-off sites listed below.

CenturyLink Campaign to Fight Hunger. Since 2012, CenturyLink (CTL) hosts a nationwide food drive to raise funds and awareness for community food banks in our markets. CTL has identified The Idaho Foodbank that serves their communities statewide where their employees live and work. This is an online virtual food drive (click on website link below).

Volunteer and Vino at the same time! Washington Trust Bank is sponsoring the first VolunVino Event at The Idaho Foodbank North Central Branch. Participants (tickets will be limited to 25) will spend 1 hour doing a fun volunteer project in The Idaho Foodbank volunteer repack room, andthen be treated to an hour of delicious appetizers and tasty wine provided by Seasons Catering in the Idaho Foodbank's new teaching kitchen.

Volunteers will learn about The Idaho Foodbank and our programs and who we serve, as well as learn tricks and tips to pairing good wine with certain foods. It will be a fun-filled evening and all proceeds will go to The Idaho Foodbank. Tickets for this event are sold out.

Flatbread Neapolitan Pizzeria is partnering with The Idaho Foobank for Idaho Gives and will be donating 20% of pre-tax sales that day from 11am - 1pm to The Idaho Foodbank. IFB will have representation at each location to thank customers and answer questions and provide information about The Idaho Foodbank and our programs/services.

The Idaho Foodbank's Nutritionist, Alexa Appleman will be doing Cooking Matters demonstrations in the commercial kitchen at the Boise Co-Op at the Village in Meridian on how to make "Dessert for a Dollar". Learn how to make (and get a taste) of Black Bean Brownies, a delicious, nutritious and very frugal dessert while also learning about our Cooking Matters program.

The Idaho Foodbank is also partnering with KeyBank. IFB representatives will be in the KeyBank lobby of the Capitol Center branch from 10am - 12pm during Idaho Gives to answer questions about our programs and services.

Walmart's fifth annual nationwide "Fight Hunger. Spark Change." campaign runs from April 2 through April 30. The campaign, done in partnership with Feeding America, is targeted at helping the one in seven Idahoans who suffer from food insecurity. Proceeds are channeled through Feeding America and go directly to The Idaho Foodbank.
Customers have several ways to donate:

Purchasing store products from participating food companies such as General Mills, Kellogg, Kraft-Heinz and several other leading food companies.

Donations can be made at the register in increments of $1, $2, $5 or an amount chosen by the customer.

Fun Run benefiting The Idaho Foodbank goal is to raise $2,000 or 10,000 meals. A fun .5K run treated like a marathon includes warm-ups aerobics, live band and beer for those of age, with a medal at the end of race.
Location is parking lot of Wiseguys Pizza 6th and Main in downtown Boise. Wear your green or else?!
Prices $20 per adult and $15 ages 13 - 20 under 12 is $1

The Idaho Foodbank and Boise Co-op Downtown are partnering again to help raise 1 million meals in March. Boise Co-op Downtown is donating 3% of Sales on their First Friday to help The Foodbank raise awareness and funds enough to feed the 179,000 Idahoans we feed monthly.

Help raise necessary food and funds during Million Meals in March campaign, by shopping at Boise Co-op downtown March 2 from 7AM to 10PM.
