Crop Hunger Walks are community-based walk events held in cities and towns across the United States to raise funds for hunger relief. This year’s Ada County CROP Hunger Walk will be held on Sunday, October 11 at the Agriculture Pavilion in Julia Davis Park (the shelter between the Bandshell and the Zoo on the greenbelt/river side). Registration starts at 2:30 pm and the walk starts at 3:00 pm. The walk is a 3-mile loop, beginning on the greenbelt, then switching to streets downtown and then back to Julia Davis Park for the return. A one-mile loop will also be available.

Twenty-five percent of the funds raised will be donated to The Idaho Foodbank, whose mission is to nourish, educate, and advocate to support thriving, food-secure communities across Idaho. The other seventy-five percent will be given to Church World Service, a faith-based organization whose mission is to transform communities around the globe through just and sustainable responses to hunger, poverty, displacement, and disaster.

4th Annual Dahlia Show

Sponsored by:Southwest Idaho Dahlia Society

Upload Event Logo

Whether you’re a seasoned dahlia grower, a weekend gardener, or someone who simply appreciates beautiful flowers, the 4th Annual Southwest Idaho Dahlia Show promises to inspire.

Hosted by the Southwest Idaho Dahlia Society, the free event takes place Saturday, September 26, at Jack’s Urban Meeting image.pngPlace (JUMP) in downtown Boise. Admission is free, and everyone is invited to experience one of the region’s largest displays of spectacular dahlias.

Now in its fourth year, the show continues to grow as more Idaho gardeners discover the remarkable diversity of dahlias. From tiny pom pons to dinner-plate blooms measuring nearly 10 inches across, visitors will see hundreds of entries in every imaginable color, size and form.

“We’re seeing more and more serious and casual gardeners fall in love with dahlias,” said organizers. “Many of these growers are looking for new ideas, learning from one another, and challenging themselves by exhibiting their best blooms. Whether you’re growing your first dahlia or your hundredth, the show is a celebration of gardening and community.”

The show is open to everyone — flower growers, flower admirers, photographers, families and anyone curious about these extraordinary blooms. Visitors will have the opportunity to view award-winning exhibits, visit with experienced growers, gather gardening tips, and learn more about growing dahlias successfully in Idaho.

We're thrilled to welcome back Art Weurth, Senior Judge and Officer of the Federation of Northwest Dahlia Growers, whose continued support of our show means so much. We're also delighted that River's Dahlias will be joining us. Eugene Kenyon, Senior Judge, and Rosie Cooper-Vert, Candidate Judge, are looking forward to sharing their expertise during our educational session. Whether you're interested in exhibiting dahlias or learning more about flower farming, you'll gain valuable insights from these talented growers.

One of the most popular features of the show is Bouquets for the Idaho Foodbank, where local growers donate beautiful floral arrangements that attendees can purchase while supporting a great cause.

Visitors can purchase:

Garden Vase with Dahlias (Class 267) – Beautiful home-display arrangements featuring seven or more dahlias, complemented by other flowers and greenery, with dahlias taking center stage. These unique arrangements sell for $30 each.

Dahlia Market Bunches (Class 269) – Fresh-cut bouquets featuring at least six dahlias, ready to take home or give as a gift. Each bouquet sells for $25.

Every bouquet purchased helps support The Idaho Foodbank, allowing visitors to take home locally grown flowers while giving back to the community.

Event Schedule
10:00 a.m. – Show Opens to the Public

2:00 p.m. – Educational Session with judges

3:00 p.m. – Awards Presentation

5:00 p.m. – Show Closes

The Southwest Idaho Dahlia Society welcomes exhibitors of all experience levels. New exhibitors are encouraged to enter and discover the fun of friendly competition while learning from fellow gardeners.
