Players from the University of Nevada and Ohio University football teams playing in this year’s Famous Potato Bowl competed on Monday to “Tackle Hunger” at Bishop Kelly High School. In less than 90 minutes, the Wolf Pack and Bobcats football team members prepared and boxed over 40,000 meals for The Idaho Foodbank.
The story of a December mobile food pantry distribution coordinated by The Cornerstone Assembly Church in Weiser. The food was brought in by The Idaho Foodbank and included more than 500 roasts that had been donated by the Idaho Beef Council, Agri Beef and the Idaho Cattle Association.
The Holiday Heroes food distribution on Monday, Dec. 16 at the Nez Perce County Fairgrounds near Lewiston was a big success. As part of the “Hunger To Health” initiative, The Idaho Foodbank has actively developed relationships with healthcare organizations to create co-locating partnerships; a collaboration of food bank and medical services at one shared location to address the needs of clients in a specific community. One such successful combination of these community services is the partnership with St. Mary’s and Clearwater Valley Hospitals and Clinics based in Cottonwood and Orofino Idaho.
