Service is Served in Lewiston

Thank you to everyone who came in to volunteer their time on Martin Luther King Day! Volunteers from the LCSC Volleyball Team, Kiwanis Club of LC Valley and Lewiston Rotary Club, in addition to other individuals in the community, helped The Idaho Foodbank pack food for our Backpack Program. We appreciate everyone who celebrated this National Day of Service by supporting The Idaho Foodbank and our partners.

Thank You for Giving Hope for the Holidays

The Idaho Foodbank’s 2021 Hope for the Holidays campaign was successful in helping thousands of Idahoans struggling to put food on the table for the holidays. We couldn’t do it without your help. Thank you so much to all the businesses and individuals who donated and volunteered with The Idaho Foodbank and our partners during the holidays.

In January, thousands of people across the United States and Idaho celebrate the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. with a National Day of Service by participating in service projects and volunteering at local non-profits.

Holiday Heroes Event in Lewiston

The Idaho Foodbank’s annual Holiday Heroes event in Lewiston is an opportunity for members of the community to make donations and volunteer to provide food for those in need during the holiday season. The culmination of this event was the distribution of boxes of food for holiday meals. The December 21st distribution in Lewiston provided food boxes for nearly 500 families who are struggling to make ends meet.

Pocatello Food Drive

2021 was another great year in Pocatello for the Drive Away Hunger Food Drive. Outside of Fred Meyer, Cole Nissan-Kia and Cole Chevrolet car dealerships had a friendly competition to bring in the most food for The Idaho Foodbank.

In Partnership with Communities

To better understand the needs of communities experiencing hunger, The Idaho Foodbank employed community liaisons through generous grant funding from Feeding America and Micron Technology. Our community liaisons are focused on building partnerships to formulate long-term solutions to hunger in rural Southwest communities, the Native American/Indigenous tribes residing on Idaho’s reservations and Hispanic/Latinx and refugee communities in South Central Idaho.

Albertsons and the Idaho Foodbank Celebrate Their Partnership to Address Food Insecurity

Since 2005, the Albertsons Santa Bucks campaign has raised funds for The Idaho Foodbank to provide food for holiday meals to Idahoans who are struggling to make ends meet. This campaign gives customers the opportunity to donate money to The Idaho Foodbank when they are paying for their purchases. “Our customers and hard-working associates show such generosity through these holiday campaigns,” said John Colgrove, Division President at Albertsons Companies Intermountain Division.

Hope for the Holidays

During November and December, The Idaho Foodbank’s Hope for the Holidays Campaign promotes efforts across the state to alleviate hunger. We have already had many great events and there are still opportunities to get involved. With the support of the community, The Idaho Foodbank is working to allow everyone, regardless of their current financial situation, to have a holiday meal and nutritious food on the table throughout the season.
