Bowl Teams Compete to Tackle Hunger

Players from the University of Nevada and Ohio University football teams playing in this year’s Famous Potato Bowl competed on Monday to “Tackle Hunger” at Bishop Kelly High School. In less than 90 minutes, the Wolf Pack and Bobcats football team members prepared and boxed over 40,000 meals for The Idaho Foodbank.

Weiser Mobile Pantry Distributes Roasts to Families in Need

The story of a December mobile food pantry distribution coordinated by The Cornerstone Assembly Church in Weiser. The food was brought in by The Idaho Foodbank and included more than 500 roasts that had been donated by the Idaho Beef Council, Agri Beef and the Idaho Cattle Association.

Holiday Heroes Help 400 Families in North Central Idaho

The Holiday Heroes food distribution on Monday, Dec. 16 at the Nez Perce County Fairgrounds near Lewiston was a big success. Food came from the Holiday Heroes food drive at Rosauers in Lewiston, which was a promotion put on by area radio stations and additional food for this distribution was provided by our North Central Branch’s warehouse.

All season Albertsons pledged $500 (that will provide food for up to 2500 meals!) per BSU sack – and then they decided to throw in a little bit more to help as much as possible!

As part of the “Hunger To Health” initiative, The Idaho Foodbank has actively developed relationships with healthcare organizations to create co-locating partnerships; a collaboration of food bank and medical services at one shared location to address the needs of clients in a specific community. One such successful combination of these community services is the partnership with St. Mary’s and Clearwater Valley Hospitals and Clinics based in Cottonwood and Orofino Idaho.
